Djeli Mahamadou Kone

Djeli Mahamadou Kone & Doucoura Djeli Madou was born in Bamako, Mali to a family of griots and a heritage of professional ngoni musicians. He began playing the tamani and ngoni at the age of six and has continued to perfect his musical style and diverse abilities with Malian percussion in the cultural footsteps of his ancestors; DOUCOURA, the group, is a set of 5 main musicians, one of the finest percussion groups in Mali. The group is composed of the soloist Djeli Mahamadou with two tama bassists, two medium range tama players, superimposed doun doun and two female vocalists. The aforementioned musicians additionally play multiple string instruments including ngoni, kora and balafon.
